EROSION ALONG THE COASTLINE
Almost 75% of the coastlines erode. This erosion causes a danger for homeowners, people, and other buildings. In Encinitas, there were two women who were killed from debris that fell due to erosion. They were just sunbathing and ended up dead, which just shows how dangerous erosion can be. Another dangerous situation took place in San Francisco when a woman was killed. Due to erosion, the cliff collapsed beneath her feet. Scientists believe that as sea levels rise, the coastline will continue to erode. The stronger the storm, the larger the waves that hit against the coast and erode the land. It is estimated that California will lose ? of the beaches by the turn of the century. Building structures on the cliffs also adds to erosion.
Two solutions were discussed. One was to have people who lived in those areas to leave them. The other was to have the government pay people for the land they already own so they can move to a safer place. This was referred to as a, managed retreat. Not all cities are on board with this idea. For example, the city of Del Mar does not want to move people, they would rather build up the beach by importing sand. There is a need to do something and each city seems to be making their own game plan to address the situation.

Climate Change and COP26
Climate change awareness has been happening for a long time now. The evidence that climate change is affecting the earth is all beginning to grow. There’s so many new organizations around the world that are trying to make a difference. There’s non profit organizations that go to our public schools and teach young school kids about the importance of global warning and how to contribute to make a difference. The earth has become a tired by the misused of fossil fuels and natural resources. The global temperature is at a up rising causing an-effect on droughts wildfires, and increasing the risk of stores that would cause catastrophes flooding, and the raise of sea levels. The rising of sea levels would damage near by cities and the infrastructure of coastlines. Damaging a instruction of coastal ecosystems. There’s things that can be done and people can become aware of.

The biggest conference in the world is hosting a COP26. The COP26 has been a United Nations bringing together some politicians scientific researcher’s and law makers since 1995. Some of the top topics consist of climate targets and progress on reducing emissions. The Paris agreement will be the priority topic during this event. This treaty was established in 2015 in France and it was a document signed by 196 nations called the Paris Climate Accords. It is the worlds first treaty with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The event will be hosted from October 31, 2021 to November 12, 2021 in Glasgow Scotland. The main topic for the event is to discuss the temperatures rising at approximately 1.5 degrees Celsius above the pre industrial levels in the next degrees Celsius.
