Looking at what you have studied in this course so far (or even what you will), provide an example of application of chemistry around you. Pick something interesting and challenging, not just easy!

3. Provide one brief paragraph description to explain it using chemistry concepts

For my part:

Will I burn my hand or not? During week 1 we learned that due to low specific heat capacity, metal are heating up quickly. Therefore, pots that are made out of metals with plastic handles are easier to use. The metal has a low heat capacity and the plastic handles have a high heat capacity. So, upon exposure to the same amount of heat, the pot gets much hotter, but the handles still remain at a temperature that you can tolerate when you grab onto them. Well.. I guess it is too hot to handle unless I wear mittens! 🙂
