NCSU E government Website Assessment Presentation

Description

General Formatting of Presentations

All presentations must be submitted through Canvas. For these presentations, it is recommended that you use a narrated PowerPoint and Canvas Studio. All work requires citation of sources used and it is expected you will have at least three sources for each of these presentations. Always include a title and name in your first slide. Additionally, you can explore LinkedIn for Learning (free through ECU) to find resources on how to create a quality presentation and narrate a PowerPoint. Additional details regarding submission will be in Canvas.

Web Presentation

*Presentation September 20th Midnight and comments due September 24th Midnight

Using Canvas Studio to present your PowerPoint presentation, you will present an assessment of a government website which can include the access from a mobile device.

You will need to choose either a Federal US Agency website, a US State, a city, a county website, and/or a non-profit agency.

In your assessment, include usability, quality and type of content, any application of specific technology that enhances the citizen experience, do they address ADA – accessibility, is their an opportunity for participation, is the website mobile responsiveness, is the site used to promote citizen engagement in the organization, services offered that are enhanced via technology, and transparency in the breadth of information provided to the public.

Emphasis should be on the e-government services offered, the uniqueness of the site from other sites regarding the services offered.

Is it evident how technology is being used to provide continuity of services during the pandemic? Strive to find sites that are progressive and offer progressive services that can be used as a model for other sites. This site (link (Links to an external site.)) has a graph showing satisfaction with different services in the US. You will need to change the graph settings to find the US and the digital services. The data is from 2018 but gives you some context.

Other information to include in your assessment can be found in online resources used to review public websites and/or resources that you find as part of your research. There are several resources on reviewing public websites shared below.

  • Your assessment should be between 6 & 7 minutes – no less and no more. The presentation will be submitted to your peers for review and comments.
  • Each student is required to comment and ask questions on at least 3 presentations. I will create random groups, so you know which peer presentations you should comment on. Peer Feedback should be substantive – not just ‘good job’.

Your approach can be an infomercial, investigative reporting, or a traditional presentation. Your choice.
