This weeks project seems simple: a 500-word essay in which you will write about a personal belief or about your own professional aspirations. To keep this essay within the word limit, tight and focused, however, requires some pre-writing, drafting, and editing. Each of your projects after this will require that you achieve a level of information literacy, meaning you are able to identify information that you need, you can locate it, assess its validity for your purposes, and are able to synthesize facts, and communicate your ideas in a coherent way.
This week you will not need to cite any sources.
As you finish and polish your Project 1 essays, please consider this guidance:
Cover sheet will be in correct APA format. There is no need for an abstract, citations, or a references page.
This is a first-person essay (a rare thing indeed in graduate school) in which you begin by stating your belief, what it is, how you came to that belief, and how this belief influences your life and work. You could map this out as a simple five – paragraph essay: introduction (which will include your belief), supporting paragraphs with details, and a concluding paragraph in which you come back to your belief.
