For this case study, we are heading into a very standard case when exploring management – the failures of space exploration. This is a standard area of interest because space projects and space firms had to work extremely fast, inside of complex and underfunded projects in the midst of the cold war.
To that end, we will be doing some reading to learn about the Challenger incident
There are innumerable resources out there for you to read about what occurred with the Challenger including articles about the Netflix series. For example: https://www.wired.com/story/netflixs-challenger-is-a-gripping-look-at-nasa-in-crisis/ (Links to an external site.) and the Wikipedia article of the incident will include a lot of different resources for you to look at.
You are to do the following:
Read: the articles about the Challenger incident or you can watch the Netflix series of the incident: https://www.netflix.com/title/81012137 (Links to an external site.)
Research a little about what happened after the incident and where the space program is now.
Find 5 “lessons” from Challenger that are still being discussed today.
oBy “lessons” I mean something like (and yes, you can use these):
And other types of lessons.
What I’m interested in is what we in 2021 should know about or care about from this disaster from 1986.
Once you’ve done your due diligence, there are 2 deliverables you must provide.
Create a Slide Deck (Refer to the example in the Files Tab Folder ‘Examples’)
oSlide deck must be 18 slides total and MUST include these 3 slides:
§A Title Slide (Please call your presentation something)
§A TLDR slide or, 3 sentence overview of your presentation
§A final slide with your names and contact information (email / social media)

Write 1000 words about how space programs have learned from this incident. Or perhaps they did not.
oConsider how what this technology does relates to how their company is run.
oDid the company make good decisions? Has it since the case study?
oShow me you all learned something.
Submit 2 files:
o1 PDF
o1 PPT(x)
NOTE: if you can use Footnotes for citing the work, it would be better.
