Description
For this final project, you will choose a location in the world from the list provided in Project Part 1, and answer a geographic problem that relates to the course. You are exploring the geographic processes and patterns we discussed in the course such as precipitation, temperature, etc. For all of these patterns and processes we have discussed problems that arise. You will create a map in ArcGIS Online that show the area or the phenomena that your are interested in studying and write a two page summary of the study. THE COUNTRY IS CHINA. An example will be included
Your paper must be 2-page, 12-point font, single-spaced, with 1-inch margins. The paper should have:
- a discussion of the study area,
- a statement of the problem, and
- the objectives of your research (what you are going to look at to solve the problem).
You will not actually be solving the problem, such as too much rainfall in Northern India in the rainy season, but you will discuss the physical process related to the problem.
For the report, you should compose at least one-paragraph statement about each of the following themes (GA):
- Geography of Study Area
- Atmospheric Patterns & Processes
- Insolation
- Ocean Currents
- Atmospheric Pressure and Winds
- Atmospheric Moisture and Temperature
- Atmospheric Disturbances (Severe Weather)
- Climate
- Climate Change Impact
The statements must be complete and include specific facts and information on the topic. Reports should contain a reference map of their study area (ArcGIS Online map), with a citation in the references directing readers to the source.
For Insolation section, students are required to calculate the intensity of solar radiation on June 21st (summer solstice) and December 21st (winter solstice) for the capital.
Students should cite a least 2-3 reputable references at the end of the report. They may use citations in APA.
